Chinese New Year 2018
We watched a film about Chinese New Year, getting ready for it and the Lion dance. We listened to Chinese music and made our own red envelopes. We did lots of different activities across school to celebrate.
Y1 Stop Motion Animations
Gill and Ailsa have been to visit our partner school in Bangladesh. They were made to feel very welcome by everyone. Gill set them a challenge of making a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows – a team of girls won but everyone enjoyed the session.
We have had an art exhibition in school. Children from nursery to Y6 have showcased their drawing and painting. I am sure you will agree that we are lucky to have such skilled artists in school.
Anti-Bullying Week 13th – 17th November 2017
We wore odd socks on the first day of Anti-Bullying week and we dressed in blue for Blue Friday. All the children drew a picture of themselves on a jigsaw piece and we fitted them all together to represent our school community. School Council gave out stickers on Blue Friday with the slogans ‘All different, all equal’.
When a person is alone they are ‘one piece’ but when they come together they make something special – a community that fits together perfectly, just like a jigsaw!
Understanding differences and celebrating them helps us prevent bullying.
Why doesn’t our jigsaw have edges or corners? The answer is, so that we can welcome others.
