Y5 children have been taking part in Bikeability, which is all about gaining practical skills and understanding how to cycle on today’s roads. Bikeability gives children the skills and confidence for all kinds of cycling. They have absolutely loved it!
As part of Healthy Minds, we asked the children what they worried most about. 44% of our children said that their biggest problem was sleep. Following this we held a sleep workshop at school on October 25th, which 50 parents attended. Here are some of the key messages that we discussed.
Sharrow School is part of ‘Healthy Minds’ - a school-based project which aims to support the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people. It puts emotional resilience at the heart of children’s health and wellbeing and recognises its impact on their learning, attainment, behaviour and future employability.
As part of this, all staff have had training on Attachment Theory and emotional regulation. We are currently training selected children to be ‘Healthy Minds Champions’ who will help us to find out more about the emotional wellbeing of their peers. We will be running parent workshops later on this term so watch this space!
The entire school took part in art day today. From the Nursery all the way up to Year 6, children expressed their creativity through many different mediums for the entire day. Activities included making mosaics, using junk to build important buildings around Sheffield, drawing a one point perspective skyline, sewing, and much more. Everyone loved the freedom in dedicating the entire day to art.
We had a great sports day in the park. Everyone took part and we had lots of fun.
