Air Resistance Experiments

The Y5’s planned and carried out an experiment to make the best possible paper spinner. After observing the fall of one made from a template, the teams then had to brainstorm the different variables that could affect and improve its fall. They then selected one variable and carried out a fair test, measuring accurately. Each team had to analyse their results and present their conclusions to the year group. Gravity, surface area, friction and air resistance were identified as the main forces affecting each experiment. We also considered some inaccuracies that had occurred and how this could make our results unreliable. We shared reasons for this and how we could improve on it next time.
